One of many subpar games from the "Games for Your Atari" book that I wasted time typing in. They either didn't work because of all the numbers that had to be typed in for the DATA statements, or the game wasn't fully debugged at the time of publication. It was also very hard to type in (and proofread!) the programs because it was printed on headache inducing dot matrix paper. Was especially annoyed that this game just used Graphics 0 mode with re-purposed characters and simple sound effects. Yeah, it was written in BASIC and I shouldn't be expecting that much -- but there were so many much higher quality, near commercial quality games found elsewhere.
Just about EVERY game detailed in the book sounded much more promising and exciting than the end product. There were no screenshots, so every time I typed in one of the programs, I thought, hey, this code seems to be really complex and fancy! Should be a good one! Alas, I was wrong. Every single one of them. ¯\_(?)_/¯ |
