This was a bit of a meh game way back then...but this was my first computer and one of my first games so I didnt know better! Great thing I found randomly though was that while playing this game you could play your cassettes in the tape deck and music would come through the tv!! I dont remember this on any other game!

Monk, it literally says, RIGHT THERE ON THE TAPE COVER "Special Weapons and Tactics".
Perhaps READ things BEFORE you make yourself look a fool.

Jonny, no. That's what "S.W.A.T." means, and also, you are talking about real life versus this game's Universe. Who are you to dictate what anything means in this game's Universe?

Swat means a thing used to kill flies. This game has no flies, so does it make it a bad game?

Maybe you should rather focus on the game and gameplay itself, than trying to be a smart-áss with completely irrelevant 'critique' about the NAME of the game (which falls under 'artistic freedom' anyway, so it can be anything it wants to be without having to conform to your or anyone else's norms!).

This is a good game. Shooting is fun, the sound effects are awesome (the machine gun really sounds like a machine gun), the gameplay is fluid and tight, and there is even tactic involved.

I also like how the 'lives left' are actual people walking the street with you instead of just an image or number somewhere in the corner.

The only downsides are, that it all becomes rather repetitive after awhile, and the bad guys can THROW further than my gun can SHOOT. Makes no sense..

(It also makes no sense that they don't shoot at all, or even have guns - they just keep throwing unrealistically loudly falling bombs at you)

This game has the typical Atari charm; some aspects may be simplistic, but the immersion is unbeatable, and the fluidity and smoothness of everything draws you in and encompasses the player with video game excitement on multiple levels, as a good game should.

This game is highly recommended, especially if you are in a mood to shoot some jerks.

Well-Presented and nicely executed shooter but SWAT means 'Special Weapons And Tactics' which is over-egging the 'walk up the street shooting thugs and avoiding civilians' type of gameplay. Good for a quick play but I thought it lacked longievity.

In my opinion, one of the best games for the Atari 800. You work your way up the screen taking out anyone in your way (apart from the old ladies!) and dodging grenades / snipers. At the end of each level you have to rescue a hostage. It can get quite repetitive but the difficulty level is just right. The Spectrum version is awful so stick to this one!

Great game, if not a little simple though! I loved playing this even more when I discovered I could play audio cassettes through the atari tape deck when this game had loaded!

A fairly entertaining, if somewhat violent, shoot 'em up game!
