NOTE: HacMan II requires a color monitor and 1 meg of memory to run.
If you don't have the requisite hardware, trying to run the
program will only cause you grief!
How to Unpack HacMan II
-----------------------
Follow these instructions carefully and you will have no trouble
installing the game. Even if you think you know what you're doing
READ THIS FILE.
What you've got
---------------
This archive should contain the following files:
DISK1.TOS Self-extracting archive for Disk 1
DISK2.TOS Self-extracting archive for Disk 2
README.NOW This file
Hard Drive Instructions:
-----------------------
If you have a hard drive, put DISK1.TOS and DISK2.TOS in a folder
called HACMAN2. Make sure you have at least 750K free in the
HACMAN2 directory, then run DISK1.TOS and DISK2.TOS to extract
HacMan II. (Be sure to read the section General Info below.)
Double-Sided Floppy Drive Only:
------------------------------
If do not have a hard drive you will have to extract the files in a
RAMdisk. Create a 600K RAMdisk, copy DISK1.TOS into it, and run
DISK1.TOS. Then delete DISK1.TOS and copy all remaining files onto a
blank double-sided floppy. Clear the contents of the RAMdisk, copy
DISK2.TOS into it, and run DISK2.TOS. Then delete DISK2.TOS and copy all
the remaining files onto the double-sided floppy.
Single-Sided Floppy Drive Only:
------------------------------
If you have only a single-sided floppy drive, you will have to
extract the files in a RAMdisk. Create a 600K RAMdisk, copy DISK1.TOS
into it, and run DISK1.TOS. Then delete DISK1.TOS and copy all remaining
files onto a blank single-sided floppy. This floppy will be "Disk 1."
Clear the contents of the RAMdisk, copy DISK2.TOS into it, and run
DISK2.TOS. Then delete DISK2.TOS and copy all the remaining files onto
another blank single-sided floppy. This floppy will be "Disk 2."
General Info
------------
Once the files are extracted, BE SURE to read the files README.DOC and
GAMEINFO.DOC before playing. (These files will be on Disk 1 of a
single-sided disk set.)
If you will be uploading the game to another place, BE SURE TO KEEP
THE ORIGINAL .ARC FILE YOU DOWNLOADED. Don't try to create your
own archive file. If you create your own "ARC" or "ZOO" file you will
very likely make the game impossible to install on a single-sided
floppy system, and besides that it'll take forever to archive all
the data. Please save me the agony of dealing with frustrated
users and upload only the .ARC file you downloaded. (Trust me,
people have already screwed it up. I HAVE gotten irate phone calls.
Just say NO!) Thanks!
