Since the original game is copy-protected, you most likely have a bad crack! My original version works well and does not have the bugs you describe. The background gfx use Gr. 9+11 for 256 colours, full screen + flicker-free resolution would be 80x96 pixels, but they only use half of the screen for 80x48 pixels. They should have used a higher resolution for background gfx and some DLI's for more colours instead. But the game itself is not so bad. There are worse olympic games, like e.g. Winter Olympics by Tynesoft (whereas Winter Olympiad 1988 is great and was released as Winter Challenge in the US) or Olympic Skier. Think playing these olympic games alone vs. the computer is always boring, while it is much more fun to play them with/against some friends...

| Either the dumped version is a bad crack, or this game really is awfully buggy. Sometimes the same player can win multiple medals, sometimes nobody wins. At the final screen, the same player may hold all positions. The final results are not displayed after each event. The use of national anthems and flags is wasted as those are not used anywhere in the game. The graphics are uneven, sometimes very low resolution. Unless the dumped version represents a failed crack, it really makes Anco look like a joke, in particular compared to Epyx but in some respect also to Tynesoft. |
