Adding to my original comment from 2007 - I played the game quite a lot back in the day, on original hardware. I recall that once it crashed (quit to the editor), and I was able to see the part of the listing (looking like a Basic progam) by typing LIST command.

Another game inspired by the original "Defender of the crown". "Ksiaze" ("Count") is nicely done overall and it is genuinely enjoyable game. It is written in BASIC (that's why it tends to be a little slow at times). I noticed it is too short and too simple, but it's just enough for a one or even two sessions with emulator:)

Arcade elements from the original DotC are missing, but the overall impression is nice. If you like this game, you should try "Wladca" (also from Mirage Software) - it's more challenging and complex game, but on the other hand, it lacks this charming simplicity which "Ksiaze" has.
