This is a simple and yet addictive game. Your ship is apparently negatively charged, as it is increasingly attracted to the nucleus as you strip away the electrons. Be aware that this exposes the artifacting collision-detection bug in the atari800 emulator, so set "-ntsc-artif ntsc-old" for it to play correctly. |

When you shoot an electron, it escapes the nucleus; try to catch it before it gets away. When all electrons are gone the nucleus breaks up into (protons? neutrons?) which will kill you if they touch you. The controls are Asteroid-ish but a little jerky. I got bored long before the heavy metals. |
| Atom Smasher is a fun and unusual game representing a very oblique take on Asteroids, but instead at the atomic level. The animation in the Atari high res mode is very effective. The added educational bonus is increased familiarity with atomic structures.

Although this program doesn't appear in any book or magazine publication, it is possible that the company referred to as CCP on the title screen is actually Texas-based Crystal Computer Products (please let us know if you have more information!).
