From memory you Plod around, go into buildings, get clues, get a police badge from the station go back to Baker St (bottom left) and solve the mystery... More fun to play against others with scrambled clues where you write down the clues you are given eventually work out what the characters mean on your bit of paper a=F c=J o=R etc
