Atari A to Z (Pete Davison) - 06/07/2022 |
Tengen's port of Xybots for the Atari ST is remarkably true to the arcade original... to a fault, at times. Still, if you enjoy a bit of dungeon crawling-cum-blasting action, there's fun to be had here! Let's Play! https://youtu.be/oxc-hjSZmYQ |

One or two players (split screen) run around the space ship blasting aliens and picking up money and goodies. You can buy weapons at the end of each level and there are bosses to fight every couple of times you finish one. . Full instructions are at Lemon Amiga. This is quite a unique game for the time and a good arcade conversion. The ONLY problem I have with it is the clunky turning system. You have to PRESS and HOLD the fire button and hold the your controller left or right to rotate slowly 90 degrees at a time. It's easy to get turned around and to miss your desired stopping point. On the other hand, the BLASTING in this game is really really awesome. It's kind of a 3D version of Xenophobe, but better. |
