      (c) 1994/5 Dolphin Software

The Legend.....

From the dark depths of the deepest
ocean, Dolphinus has returned from the
legendary city of Atlantas with a
totally new game. Legend has it that
Ricarus and Paulus were watching the
artisans laying the fabled mosaic
floors of Atlantas, when they came up
with the idea of a game for the gods...

In the heavens, there is a grid that is
the gateway between the gods and
mortals. But the grid is not imortal.
Cosmic forces from beyond the galaxy
are slowly eating away the fabric of
the grid, causing it to crack and break
up. If the grid were to collapse
completely, the gods would fall to
earth and become mere mortals.

The only way to save the grid is to
cover it with tessera...

The Game....

Tessera runs on Atari ST, STE, TT and
Falcon in ST LOW mode.
Needs Joystick

If there is no movement of the joystick
within 15 seconds on the Option Screen,
the game goes into demo mode.

The object of the game is to fill the
grid with tiles. But to make it harder,
Dolphinus has decided that you cannot
have 3 or more tiles of the same color
in a row. If this does occur, the
offending tiles will explode.

You are presented with the tiles in
trays (stages) of 81 tiles shown in the
Top RH corner). The next tile's color
is shown in the Top LH Corner.

The tiles can be guided onto the grid
in either 'SCREEN' or 'PIECE' mode.
In SCREEN mode, the joystick operates
relative to the screen. IE up, down,
left & right.
In PIECE mode, the joystick moves left
and right only, just as if you were
behind the tile guiding it.

You can halt the tiles before they
reach the grid by pressing the fire
button and bringing out the buffers.
This only gives you a short time to
re-align the tile (Indicated by the
thermometer at the top of the screen).

Tile types....

The SLIDERS. Colored tiles with arrow
heads. These tiles will continue to
slide if the path in front of them is
clear.

The STOPPERS. Colored tiles with disc
symbol. These stop as soon as they hit
the grid, and have to be pushed.

The GREY SLIDERS. Grey tiles with arrow
heads. These tiles explode all the
tiles of the same color as the tile
they come to rest against. But if they
can be guided to the opposite edge of
the board they just explode themselves.

While playing the game, the cosmic
forces are working against you, and
cracks will appear on un-occupied
squares of the grid, and unless they
are covered with tiles, they will
continue to crack until a hole appears.

Scoring.

1 point per tile on board times
multiplier (after every tile).
1000 points times multiplier for each
hole filled.
Extra life awarded every...
50,000 on Hard level
100,000 on Medium level.
250,000 on Easy level.

At the top of the screen under the
'buffer thermometer' is another
thermometer. This one indicates your
performance, which is assessed at the
end of each stage. If the thermometer
is in the ....
RED - you lose a life and the
multiplier reduces by 1.
YELLOW - nothing happens.
GREEN - the multiplier increases by 1
Lives can be lost by....
Pushing a tile off board.
Finishing stage in red zone.
Filling a hole.

The HELP key pauses the game and shows
the stats page.
The UNDO key or FIRE button restarts
the game.

The demo version is restricted to 3
stages (3*81 tiles). For the full
version send œ5.00 to....
