Instructions - Stu's Pool Table

STU'S POOL TABLE is a simulation of a pool game for one or two
players using six, seven, or nine balls. It was programmed using
G.F.A. ver. 3.0 from ANTIC SOFTWARE and compiled for speed. Some
of the sounds used in this program were digitized using REPLAY 4
from MICHTRON. The graphics were created using NEOCHROME and all
of the digitized sound and the NEO graphics have been imported
into a single file using the G.F.A. 'INLINE' command.

After booting the game the following screens will be
presented in the following order:

SOUND OPTION SCREEN:

The voices and sounds in this game may be switched on and off
using the 'V' key and the 'S' key. Follow the prompts on the
screen and exit by pressing the right mouse key or the letter
     'C' on the keyboard.

PLAYER OPTION SCREEN:

Use the mouse to select either one or two players by placing
the curser on the selection desired and pressing the left
mouse button. The keyboard numerals '1' or '2' may also be
     used for this selection.

     ONE PLAYER OPTION:

During play under the one player option the computer will
record and show each stroke the player makes. The player can
play under any rules desired. A qball foul will result in an
automatic reset of any sunk colored ball and allow resetting
the qball anywhere on the table. In addition the player can
replay any previous shot and can reset any colored ball to a
position behind the right spot line. Manual resetting of the
score is also possible as is getting the qball 'in hand'.

     TWO PLAYER OPTION:

The two player option will show an empty table and request
the name of the two players. The players will then be
prompted to 'lag' for break by setting a ball to the left of
the left spot marker and shooting toward the right side
bumper. The ball must hit the right bumper and will rebound
toward the left bumper. The winner of this lag routine is the
player whose ball stops nearest the left bumper. Not hitting
the right bumper, pocketing a ball, or hitting an opponents
ball will result in a foul and the other player will win the
lag if he in turn does not foul. The winner will break
first, and from there on the game will be played using the
same format as a single player game with the exception of
automatic scoring. The two players will keep track of
turns and manually change the score according to any rules
     agreed on by the players.

NUMBER OF BALLS SCREEN:

Use the mouse or the keyboard to select either six, seven, or
nine balls for play. In a two player game the players play
using any rules agreed on, and they must keep score and reset
the qball or colored balls manually.

Suggestions for number of balls option:

          Six balls:

               Use rules for rotation pool.

          Seven balls:

               Play using eight ball rules.

          Nine balls:

               Regular nine ball rules.

PLAY SCREEN:

The balls will be racked and the set qball message will be
seen and heard. The qball is set using the mouse and left
mouse button, and must be placed anywhere on the table to the
left of the left spot marker. You will not be allowed to
place the qball anywhere else on the screen or table.

The game is played by positioning the white aiming circle
anywhere on the table with the mouse and then holding down
the left mouse button until the red speed bar reaches the
desired speed. Release this button and the qball will be
'shot' toward this position at a speed proportional to the
length of the red speed bar.

MESSAGE WINDOW: (top of screen from left to right)

             Show Ball Button:

             I=REPLAY:

Pressing the 'I' key on the keyboard will replay
the previous shot. A yes or no option will follow
for confirmation. Use the mouse or the 'Y' or 'N'
             key to choose.

             P-1 Button:

             pool rules.

Pressing the 1 thru 9 keys will respot the like
number ball on the table to the right of the right
'spot' marker. The 'Y'-'N' confirmation buttons

             a 'follow_shot', and bottom for a 'draw_shot'

Selections are made by clicking the positions
