A little game for Falcon030
(also 'soon' available on PC! as 'Hammered')
----------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Bunion Canyon is a game for 0-4 players, with both human and/or
computer controlled (AI) players.
~~~
Taking on one of four symbolic guises, you must make your way from the
solid, rocky floor of the Canyon to the metaphysical enlightenment of
the heavens above, avoiding being bludgeoned to death by the psychotic
hammerhead on the way up.
To help you in your quest for higher knowledge the gods secrete
mystical blue balls onto the platforms. Picking them up will give you
one of four special powers:
Whirlwind:
----------
your lungs fill with steel! you now have the power to blow your
opponents along the platform, out of your way, hurling them into
deadly dangers!
Lightning Strike:
-----------------
you have the power to channel nature's raw electricity with which you
may stun your opponents, knocking them senseless while you step over
their prostrate forms.
Slither:
--------
with this new power you can force your opponents to slither down a
rung of the evolutionary ladder, giving you the chance to climb higher
and higher!
Death:
------
the gods have been very kind, taking pity on your tiny fragile passage
up the platforms of life, they bestow upon you this weapon to
counteract the fatal blow of fate's hammer.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
LOADING THE GAME
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Bunion Canyon can be booted off floppy or HardDrive. Double click on
"Bunion.TOS" and let the fun begin.
Bunion Canyon is compatible with VGA, RGB and TV. It is a game for 4
meg+ Falcon030s.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
MAIN MENU
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Once the game loads successfully you will be presented with the menu
screen.
Here you select which creature you wish to become by choosing each
character's control methods. Move to your selected player's control
method and press fire to toggle between keys/joystick/jagpad A or B
etc.
If you wish to play against one or more computer players select
control method "AI" (Artificially Intelligent) for the character/s
that you wish to be computer controlled. It is even possible to
choose the 'apathy' option, and let four computer players play the
game for you..
The number of rounds you wish to play in your game may be configured
on the menu screen. Move onto the "Rounds" option, so that it is
flashing, then press left and right to increase or decrease the number
of rounds. You may have up to 99 rounds in any game.
If scores are level at the end of the selected amount of rounds, the
game will continue until one player has a clear advantage.
F10 quits the game.
F1 pauses the game. Press fire to unpause.
BACKSPACE toggles 'C i n e m a s c o p E' mode on/off - this is an
extra wide screen mode available on RGB monitors only.
'Amusing' Bunion Canyon Facts:
------------------------------
Winner of the most repulsive name award 1997 and 1998.
Winner of the most delayed, yet finally completed! Cwmvention '24 hour
game' competition [Arnel's game is still to be completed 3 years
on..;]
Its name is also directly responsible for its delay, as not just one
but TWO! graphics artists refused to draw a logo for it..
A third person was found who was willing to abandon all morality to do
the deed. What he got in return for this, we have yet to discover.
The game features rather an eclectic range of graphical styles, due to
the fact that four [five if you count previous personas] separate
artists have contributed (most unwittingly) to it. See credits.
MrPink is the man responsible for the name, as well as the code.
Bunion Canyon's sister game is coded by Yoshica of rg, and is called
'Hammered'. It is however yet to be finished, but might be released
"at some point", perhaps. Maybe. Possibly. At some point.
The 'Collins Dictionary & Thesaurus' (shorter version) gives the
following definition for 'bunion': "an inflamed swelling of the first
joint of the big toe."
The game was coded three times. Third time lucky perhaps.
