Hi Evl and Sommarhack team!
Here is our small contribution to the scene and Sommarhack party!
Just a small Whackamole game for all Ataris, which can display ST mono
resolution (ST, STE, MST, MSTE, TT and Falcon). On Falcon it switch to
ST mono automaticaly if using VGA monitor. Tested with CT60, in MINT,
TOS (1.00 - 4.04). Small problem on STE machines with very low sample
volume. On STE louder samples are used, but still not as loud as on
Falcon, because i couldnt made them louder without clipping. Game is not
smooth on LCDs (Hatari or MSTE with LCD monitor. Steem offers vlb wait
modem, but music and game slowdown, but its then smooth) but on ST with
SM124 its smooth like butter. Also, due to some big mouths testers which
then didnt respond, gameplay is as it is, and it can be fixed in public
release later... Of course, as ever, there is NO bugs in it ;) In menu
there is greetings option with some logos and greetings. Some, as i sure
forgot many dudes and also had not enough space, etc...
Playing is quite straightforward. There are 4 modes:
KIDS : start with 2 slots and slow speed, slowly adding slots and speed
NORMAL : start few levels later, more slots, faster
HARD : start even few levels later, more slots, faster
FRANTIC : record/skill mode - starts with one slot, but after each virus
speed goes up until max speed (6), then open another slot, and
so on. A miss means game is over. No pills!
In game there are only 8 different type of viruses, each with different
damage factor and points. Names are still odd/stupid, im not having any
good ideas about them ;) And there is a Pill. Pill can restore some points,
or slower the speed or close one or more slots. Limited number of Pills per
level, more at hugher levels. F10/ESC aborts game at any point. Action keys
are numpad numbers: 7 is top left corner and 3 is bottom right corner. Keys
remap is added, as Mac seems not to operate with numbers and ppl tends not
to have numerical keyboards. Ah yes, missing the virus with hitting the wrong
key, lowers the health, so not a good way to play with frantic keypressings ;)
(thx GGN). Thats all. For end: THANX for supporting and developing stuff
and atari scene all these years! KUDOS!
Last, but not least:
Graphics by MiC/Dune - as always, fantastic job!
Musics by Dma-Sc/SCT1 - as always, great music!
