Note: Other than in other versions, for the Atari 800 you must climb the chimney and THEN drop the ash from within (drop ash). Usually the solutions say you should place the ash on the hearth.
Jannedor s claw appears when you do so, the game can be finished..

I could never finish this game on the Atari 800 XL, I retried now in the emulator: the witch will never put her arm in the chimney. I am absolutely positive I am doing everything right (put down ash, doofer ball when she glances at the fireplace)...

Great Game. It was the perfect example of how to make adventure games stay interesting and not fall into the usual cliche type of adventure.
Whimsical British humour at its best, probably made this less popular in the US where the dialogue was less in common with the player. Even the surprise ending was played out perfectly. Great shame that magnetic scrolls dropped the A8 after this one as Fish and Wonderland are classics as well.
