Mount program as AtariMax Flash cartridge.

Latest build released on November, 2018. There are two 2018 versions inluded, which includes a 'black' version for some modern monitors. Also included is a 2011 version.

Changes since 2011 release, in no particular order:

-RastaConverter based title screen
-Object shadows
-5-bit samples with higher sample rate
-More continues allowed
-Boss names show on stage 18
-Fix crash/corruption that can happen if a bullet homing onto a ground robot bounces down off hitting indestructible scenery
-Updated WIWI Jumbo end boss graphics
-Saves Stage unlocking back to Cart
-Start key works as start(!)
-Cheat Easter egg
-The big "nuke" explosions
-More attract/demo stages

Could be the greatest achievement on the Atari 8-bits, this is simply fantastic! As impressive as any other game, including Prince of Persia, Bosconian, and others!

This 1MB cartridge image doesn't execute at all in my emulator, until I added a 16 byte header to it. I simply copied the same 16 byte header from the Zork Trilogy also a 1MB cartridge : $43 41 52 54 00 00 00 2A $01 73 1F 71 00 00 00 00

IMPORTANT NOTE ON FLICKERING When using an emulator that doesn't have blending, the refresh rate of the monitor needs to be set at the same refresh rate of the Atari being emulated (60Hz for NTSC, 50Hz for PAL) On a real Atari it does depend a lot on how the TV/monitor is set up. I suggest adjusting the brightness and contrast on the TV until the flicker is less distracting. The colours will end up looking duller, but easier on the eyes. Maybe the Moderators can consider putting this info (or a summary of it) into the comments section for the game? Thanks

Oh if only this was done in the eighties! This game is an incredible port of the 80's sega classic. It has all the playability of the original, and so much more than other 8 bit ports. The amazing speed, graphics, fluid gameplay and music are all present./ It really is a game you want to come back to again and again. How was this done? Chris should get a knighthood for this work. A modern atari classic. Outstanding.

By playing to the Atari’s strengths, Sheddy has re-written Space Harrier history and retroactively created an outstanding 8-bit port. It’s is probably the best homebrew game for the Atari 8-bit released so far this decade.

Thanks for the database entry, but the screenshots are terrible! You need to use interlaced or blended screenshots for a better idea of how it should look.
