Tip: Use Altirra Basic to speed up the game and game initialization. Tried it - works very good!

@Richard:
When you start the original Basic game and the screen gets light-blue, you have to wait several minutes for initialization, this is normal...
If you want to have a much faster init. of the game, try the Homesoft version at: http://www.mushca.com/f/atari/index.php?dl=369
This version will start instantly, but afaik it still requires Atari Basic to be present. And err, the computer still does not check if you make legal moves or not (it assumes you do)...

I have two copies of this game from different sources and I can't get either of them to work...

Published with acknowledged strategic limitations, but considered amazing because it was a type-in chess program that actually WORKED.
So, clever piece of programming, inferior game of chess.
