Highly addictive game with very nice graphics, super-tight controls and - in a result - highly pleasing overal gameplay.

Fantastic game, I loved this. The spider is well animated, music is really good and all round design of the game unique and fun. This is the best version I've seen of the game compared to other systems.

I agree, that spider is very creepy!

I remember two things about Mountain King: One, the spider at the very bottom always scared me. They were creepy as hell. Two, once you figure out how to steal the crown and escape, the game stops being fun. At least, that was my experience. It felt too short and repetitive to keep me engaged. 6/10.

This truly is a fun adventure game! The music is great, the control and animation are perfect, and the quest itself has a lot of variety. But it's darn hard until you get the hang of the controls.

One of the most underrated games of all time -- and 8k.

Additional Comments

Other version with the same title:

CBS Software.

File found on a disk belonging to a former Roklan employee. The game appears to be mostly finished and ready to be sent to K-Byte which had originally acquired the rights. Visible differences compared to the released cartridge include:
_ plain title screen with no mention of K-Byte or CBS Software
_ more vivid floor color
_ no flashing level indication when starting a new game

Many thanks to John Hardie for unearthing / dumping this program!
