How to use
This program must be run in ST-High mode.
You need a picture in doodle format (.doo)
to be converted to the ascii-art.
For a quick test, start the corex.prg and
choose the doodle picture. Deactivate all
options except the nice-mode and press
"Start".
The options
* Nice Mode: on/off
This option limits the characters
to improve the picture quality.
* Grey Mod: on/off
This option enables additional font
styles:
"bold",
"light"
"light bold"
* Scan +4: on/off
When turned on, the program compares
four bit blocks in addition to the
center block, each 1 pixel away in
one direction.
* Scan +20 on/off
When turned on, the program compares
twelve bit blocks in addition to the
center block.
* Correct on/off
The differences between the best matching
character and the pixels in the lineart
will be given to the neighbour pixels
to be calculated again.
* Choose Picture
This option opens the file select box.
* Weakness off/1/2/3/4/5
Here you can set how much of the difference
will be given to the neighbour characters.
This is needed for the correct option.
* Distance off/1/2/3/4
The differences described before will be
given to neighbour parts in a range of
one to four pixels.
* Processes 1/2
The picture can be calculated in one step
or in two steps. Using two steps can speed
up the calculation if the corex.prg and the
corey.prg are running at the same time.
* Scan-Size 1/4/8
This will be the size of the final picture.
To increase the value is similar to the usage
of a higher dpi setting with traditional scan-
ners.
* Start
This begins the converting process.
* Quit
Go back to the GEM-desktop
The ASCII-art viewer
If the scanning process of the corex.prg has
been finished and if the processes setting was
set to 1, the viewer will be started now.
If the scanning process of the corex.prg has
been finished and if the processes setting was
set to 2, you must now start the corey.prg.
In this case, the corey.prg can be started as
soon as the corex.prg begun its work (if you
are using a multitasking environment).
The ascii-viewer is useable with the following
screen modes:
ST-LOW
ST-MEDIUM
ST-HIGH
TT-MEDIUM
TT-HIGH
and also a special screen mode for use with
1280 x 800 pixels at 256 colors or Falcon
True Color.
