WORDFIND PUZZLE GENERATOR
Now you can play wordfind puzzles on your computer or print
them on your printer. You can also look at or print a cheat
sheet (answer sheet) for your puzzle.
All puzzles, cheat sheets and word lists can be saved to
disk and reloaded for later use.
Puzzles upto 20 x 20 can be played on your monitor or T.V.
All saved puzzles and cheat sheets can be loaded into most
word proccessors.

CREATE A LIST OF WORDS
Before using this option you should set the size of your
puzzle with the SIZE option in the OPTIONS menu. IF you
want to use your word list in lots of puzzles set the size
to 30 and then reset your puzzles size and also reload the
word list.
When the file selector appears enter a filename without an
extension then click on or press RETURN.

CREATE A LIST OF WORDS
A box will appear in the righthand window informing you of
the longest and maximum number of words you can enter. In
the lefthand window will be a '?', this is your prompt to
enter a word. Type your word in upper or lower case and
then press RETURN.
You can edit a word with BACKSPACE before you press RETURN.
The onlt other way to edit a word is with a text editor.
To end the input of words enter '*' as your word. If you
reach the maximum number of words allowed input will end.

LOAD WORD FILE
This lets you load a list of words already saved to disk.
When the file selector box appears double click on the file
you wish to load, or click on the file and then click on or
press RETURN.
You will be informed how many words are in the file and the
length of the longest. You will also be informed as to the
maximum number of words that will fit in the size of puzzle
you have selected along with the length of the longest.
You have the option of accepting this list of words or of
selecting a new file.

LOAD CHEAT SHEET
This lets you load a cheat sheet from disk.
Once loaded you can print it or if it is not larger than
20 x 20 view it on screen.

SAVE CHEAT SHEET
Every time you generate a puzzle you also make a cheat sheet
for that puzzle. This option lets you save the cheat sheet
to disk for later use. You do not need to use this option if
you are going to save the puzzle as the cheat sheet is saved
at the same time. The full list of words in the puzzle is
also saved.
When the file selector appears enter a filename without an
extention and click or press RETURN.
This file is in a format that most word proccessors will
accept, just delete the lines not needed.

LOAD PUZZLE
This lets you load a puzzle from disk to be printed or if
the size is 20 x 20 or less to be played on the screen.
This option will also reset the size and difficulty.
The cheat sheet is also loaded.
All program options will now be available and you can even
generate a new puzzle from the words in this one.

SAVE PUZZLE
This will save the current puzzle and all its setting to
disk. The cheat sheet is also saved.
When the file selector appears enter a filename without an
extention and then click or press RETURN.
Both files are in a format most word proccessors can load.
The words used in the puzzle are also saved.

QUIT
This will return you to the desktop. You will be asked to
confirn this choice.

GENERATE PUZZLE
This is the brains of the program and makes a puzzle from
your list of words.
Each word will be shown as it is being fitted into the
puzzle. If the word will not fit you will be informed.
Once the puzzle is finished the word list will be only
contain the words in the puzzle.

SIZE
This lets you change the size of the puzzle that will be
generated. The puzlle size can be anything form 10 x 10 to
30 x 30. Only puzzles upto 20 x 20 can be diplayed on screen
When you change the puzzle size you will lose any puzzle
that has already been generated. You can exit this option
without losing any puzzle already generated.
Click on the left arrow to make the size smaller and the
right arrow to make it bigger, finish exits this option.

NO. COPIES
This sets the number of copies of the puzzle that will be
printed. This can be set from 1 (defualt) to 9. To change
the number click on the right arrow to increase it and the
left arrow to decrease it.

PRINT PUZZLE
This prints the puzzle and the words used in it. The puzzle
will be printed centered on the page and if multipule copies
have been requested 1 per page.
The printouts should word with any printer. The program is
setup for fanfold paper and you may encounter problems with
multipule copies on single sheets. If you do have problems
save thew puzzle and use a word proccessor to print it.

PRINT CHEAT SHEET
This will print a single copy of the cheat sheet and the
words used in the puzzle.

SHOW PUZZLE
If the puzzle is not larger than 20 x 20 then this will
display it on the screen.
This option also activates the PLAT PUZZLE option.

SHOW CHEAT SHEET
This will show the cheat sheet on the screen if the puzzle
size if no more than 20 x 20.
#
PLAY PUZZLE
First use show puzzle then select this option.
Click on the first letter of a word, it will be highlighted,
then click on the last letter. If the word is in the puzzle
it will be highlighted, if not you will be informed. To
cancel a word click on the first letter again or anywhere in
the puzzle. When a word is found it is also highlighted in
the word list.
You can exit this option at anytime by clicking the right
mouse button.

SHOW ANSWERS
If you have the puzzle displayed on screen or are playing
the puzzle you can use this to show where all the words are.
#
HELP
This is a toggle switch which turns the help function on or
off. If help is on you will get an information box when you
select an item. If help is off and you turn it on you will
go through all the help screens.
The program checks for the file 'WORDFIND.HLP' and loads it
if on the disk, if not help is disabled. If you do not want
the help file to be loaded rename it to 'README' or some
other name.
