Instructions - Joute

   J O U T E  Copyright 1992 Raymond hill

   Joute is shareware. If you like and use this game, please be grateful
for all my efforts and numbers of hours of programming by sending
me 10$ at the following address:

   Raymond Hill (JOUTE)
   62 rue Brodeur
   St-Constant, PQ
   Canada
   J5A 1X3

   JOUTE works on all ST or TT, in low or medium resolution, and requires
a joystick. JOUTE has been designed to be played with a modem against
somebody else. You can still get used to the game by using the "1 player"
mode (just to fool around!).

   JOUTE.LZH MUST contain the following files:

   JOUTE.TOS -> Program
   JOUTE.ENG -> English doc
   JOUTE.FRA -> French doc
   000.MAZ
   001.MAZ
   002.MAZ
   003.MAZ
   004.MAZ
   005.MAZ
   006.MAZ
   007.MAZ
   008.MAZ
   009.MAZ   -> Mazes

   All the files with the extension MAZ must be placed in a folder
called MAZES, which one must be on the same level as the program
JOUTE.TOS.

   The aim of the game is to guide a tank throught a maze and try to
destroy your opponent's houses before he tries to destroy yours. Your
tank is the yellow one and the opponent's tank is blue.

   Your tank possess limited energy. Each time your fire a shot,
you lose energy. If you get shot by the enemy tank, you lose a large
number of energy. To get full energy, you must go back on the plate where
you started. The more your level of energy is low, the more your color
gets darker. When your tank has no more energy, you can't fire anymore.
(you gain one unit of energy approximately each 20 seconds.)

   To destroy a house (preferably the opponent's one), you must shoot it.
16 shots are required to destroy a house. When either one or the other
sees the total number of houses destroyed, the fight is ended and a new
maze is fetched. All the mazes on the disk are fetched in a rotation
manner. The game is neverending.

   You must make use of strategies when playing against someone using the
modem. All the mazes contains obstacles that are advantageous or not, all
depending on how you use them...

   Explore all the mazes in detail and learn all the fonctions of the
differents objects you might find. They can help you in finding a good
strategy against the opponent.

   Hot-keys are:

        : quit the game

   and in "2 players" mode only:

      : send a message to the opponent
    : give the Master status to the opponent

   Before creating the game, i asked myself if it was possible to make
an action game opposing 2 players using the modem. Now I know the
answer. I sure will repeat that experience if you send me some donations
to get me going for more!!! And, regularly I will upload some files
containing new mazes just to keep you interested in the game. Thanks &
have fun with JOUTE.
