              Instructions

Jiggsy is a 'simple' puzzle game. It is
essentially a cross between a jigsaw
puzzle and the sliding squares puzzle.
The biggest difference is that you have a
time limit.

             Getting Started

The disk is Auto booting so you should
get to the intro screen without any
bother. (if the disk did not autoboot,
just double click on JIGGSY.PRG) There
will be a wibbly line and other stuff on
this main screen. You can read it if you
like, it's just drivvel. To escape from
this, hit the space bar. You will be
taken to the main play options. These
are:

Help On - Almost all of the levels will
have the assist picture at the side. This
just gives a visual clue to aid your
task. A few of the later pictures do not
have help, just to irritate (har har)

Help Off - If this is clicked on, well
you're on your own. No help at all..

Lemme Play - Takes you to the main game.

           2 - Basic Priciples

Each Picture is made up of 16 blocks.
The blocks must be arranged in the main
playing area. This is a 4x4 'grid'.

The blocks will drop in from the top left
corner of the 'grid' and fall to the
bottom.

This is principle No.1 - all blocks will
drop to the lowest level if theres
nothing below it. Gravity lives.
So if there are 2 blocks on top of each
other and you take the bottom one. The
topmost block will fall to the bottom.
Geddit.....

You move the blocks around the grid by
'picking them up' using the mouse. As you
move the pointer around the main grid a
guide square will follow the pointer.
Clicking the left mouse button will 'pick
up' the block below the guide square.
Assuming there's a block below it.

You then position it where you need it,
and press the left button again. The
block will drop onto the grid. But only
if there's a space..

The block will of course drop down if
theres nothing below it.

You start a level with 5 blocks already
on the screen. Just so you can get your
bearings - or not as the case may be.

As each block comes on screen, you
position it - continue in this manner
until the picture is complete.

     3 - Extra Controls & Irritants

If you are sitting waiting for a block to
come out , but you are already waiting
for it. Then pressing the RIGHT mouse
button will release it onto the screen.

When a block comes onto the screen it
goes into the top left corner of the
grid. But if this area is blocked a
timer will start to count down. YOU MUST
CLEAR THIS BLOCK before the timer reaches
zero. If not it's bye bye player.

Of course the top left block might need
to be there. This is where the 'STORE'
area comes in. Picking up a block and
putting it in store will keep it out of
your way until you need it. Any block can
use the store.

When the last block is on the grid a
timer will start to countdown. If this
reaches zero - bye bye player. The only
way to not let it reach zero is to finish
the picture. If you've kept your wits
this should be no problem.....

         4 - Main Screen Buttons

RESET- This button will end the current
game and dump you back to the title
sequence.

QUIT- Ends the entire program dumping you
back to the desktop.

PAUSE- Lets you have a pee, answer the
door, sneeze etc.

             5 - Other Stuff

Continue - If you manage to get past a
certain number of levels (i.e.
4,8,12,16,20,21) you will be allowed to
continue from this point. When you are
about to play, below the 'Lemme play'
sign will be a 'continue' sign. Click on
the continue to..er..continue from where
you left off.

The time limit will vary beteen 5 mins
and 2 mins per picture. (the blocks will
drop at a rate of 7 to 20 second
intervals). But you can speed up by
pressing the right mouse button.

If / When you complete Jiggsy the screen
will display a message telling you to
wait. DO SO and your completion prize
will be retrieved from the disk. It's
just a little something after all your
hard work!!!

(crackers, don't cheat!!! You won't go to
heaven if you do. You have been warned.)

               6 - Credits

Titles Chip Music - "Enchanted lands"
                ripped by Argonaut of the
                untouchables.
Pause music - "Fury" by Mad Max

End of Game Music - you won't
   hear this unless you complete
all of Jiggsy but it's also by
   Mad Max.

Packer - ICE 2.4 to my mind the best
        packer. It fast and efficient
        and executable.

-- Stuff I drew but didn't invent

Garfield & Oddie Copyright Jim Davis
Strontium Dog Copyright 2000 AD

-- Stuff ripped and modified

Skully ripped from Stereo Master
Juggling Bear taken from a Dpaint 2 demo
Coke Logo by Marcus
Grim reaper by CPJW(??)
Lumpgold by CPJW
Wizard from the STAC demo
Nosepicker from the STAC demo
Liberty from the Atari distribution disk
Winker from the Ivor Biggun demo

-- Stuff modified but no idea where
   it actually came from

Fat Slags from Viz comics where I got it?
Venus by Botticelli I think, It might
have come from the Art Director paint
proggy.

-- And all the rest of the graphics,
code, sounds etc by 'Him'

Software :
STOS - no extensions, cos I never
get round to registering, and it's not
fair that I use them. Although I suppose
as I'm not charging for this prog it
would have been ok. Oh well.
   Mastersound II - well knackered
now, but still serves well enough
Crack Art - Get it Get it Get it.
this art prog knows the socks of of
everthing I've ever used. Few things I
would have liked, and need but for ~7
what do you want.
Golden Image Hand Scanner - Why
include this? well Stronty and the teddy
bear were scanned in using this, so fairs
fair everything else has been included..

My system at present for those who like
this sort of thing.

4Mb 1040 STe
Cumana 2nd Drive
Megafile 30 which always runs out of
space.
Canon BJ and Tandy DMP
Philps Colour TV/Monitor (it's got scart)
