FIRST CONJUGATION REGULAR VERBS (ending in ER)
e.g PENSER - TO THINK (INFINITIVE) Remove the ER to give stem
for declining the PRESENT TENSE
The endings to add to the stem (PENS-) are
-E, -ES, -E, -ONS, -EZ, -ENT
Je pense, tu penses, il/elle pense, nous pensons,
vous pensez, ils/elles pensent.
Some regular verbs are : CHERCHER (TO FIND), DONNER (TO GIVE)
TROUVER (TO FIND), PARLER (TO SPEAK), PENSER (TO THINK)
REGARDER (TO WATCH), AIMER (TO LOVE), JOUER (TO PLAY)
MANGER (TO EAT), REGRETTER (TO REGRET), PORTER (TO CARRY)
Any good dictionary will tell you which -ER verb is regular.
AVOIR, to have, is declined as follows:
J'AI, TU AS, IL AS, NOUS AVONS, VOUS AVEZ, ILS ONT.
Words used in the program which you may not know are:
FACILE = EASY: COMPRENDRE = TO UNDERSTAND: VRAI = TRUE
ESSAYER = TO TRY: QUELQUEFOIS = SOMETIMES
DE PLUS EN PLUS = MORE AND MORE: PLEIN DE = FULL OF.
No accents (e.g. / (acutes) /\ (circumflexes) etc. have
been used as they are not required in upper case.
Accents are used in French to show the pronounciation
of a word. French words do not sound true at all in
Fast Basic speech - so I'll leave it to you to grapple
with your French teacher over this !!
