                                 Final Fantasy

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It's here at last, the game some  people  are calling "The best GodleNES release
since Ice Climber". Its Final. Its Fantastical. And now its on your Falcon!
Final Fantasy is an RPG game in the  style of Ultima only good. You take control
of a band of four characters and you  must guide them through a fantasy world in
order to find the four magical orbs. Haven't you noticed how careless people are
with magical items likes orbs and  swords and  the  like? They are always losing
them. I would imagine the insurance  on  such  items is extremely high. I called
CIH for a quote on the orbs,  but  he  said his company didn't have any policies
for magical orbs, especially not against "third  party demonic fire and theft by
evil wizards."
On the opening screen you can define the Respond Rate by pressing left or right.
This relates to how quickly battles are  fought - how long dialogue boxes remain
on the screen.
Next you get to choose your  characters.  These range from fighters to magicians
to, erm, magicians who can also fight  a  bit.  There are two different types of
magic - white and black. White magic is  mainly a force for good, healing, anti-
poison and the like. Black magic is  mainly offensive with fire spells and other
stuff.
Some characters can only do black magic,  whilst other refuse to touch the stuff
and stick solely to the white. There are some liberal magicians who dabble a bit
in both. The fighters can't do magic because they are thick.
My favourite characters are the fighter ( good for duffing people up ), Rosa who
can do a bit of black and white and  the white mage for all these cure spells in
the middle of the battle. Avoid B.I. Belt because he is bobbins.
When you select your characters you  can  make  your own four character name for
each of them. A  little  tip  -  don't  call  them  all  'AAAA'  as this can get
confusing latter on in the game!
Once you have assembled your merry band you can begin your quest. You are placed
in the lush green lands of fantasy world. All grass, forests, little streams and
quaint old towns free from the touch  of technology and civilisation. A bit like
Wales really.
There are three sections of final fantasy.
1. The walking round aimlessly looking for villages and castles.
2. The exploring of towns and castles
3. The fights
You begin the game in front of a castle  so if you toddle in and find the King's
chamber he will explain the first part of  the mission. Go to the town below the
castle and get 'tooled up'. Here you can buy swords, shields, magical spells and
potions. Simply find the shops in the town and go in!
Some weapons can only be  wielded  by  certain  characters  - generally only the
fighters can use the heavier swords and the  magicians have to make do with more
lightweight stuff.
Press the 'Pause' button to enter  your  status  screen. Here you can equip your
characters with the weapons  and  armour  you  have  bought.  You can also drink
potions and cast some spells. If you are  outside a town you can build a shelter
to recover HP and magic points.
When you are wandering around  outside  towns,  you  will be assaulted by random
monsters. Killing these will yield you  gold  and experience. As your experience
rises you will go up a level gaining better powers and skills. It is a good idea
to fight a lot and get  to  level  3  experience before attacking Garland in his
temple in the North.
This is just a brief guide to the game, hopefully sh3 will have found a full doc
from that wonderful infornation cyber-supermarket thing.
This is an absolutely brilliant game. Have fun Falcon people!
                                 TRAINER MODES
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
-[ Infinite HP ]----------------------------------------------------------------
All your characters get an infinite  amount  of  Hit Points! This means that you
never lose any HPs at any time during a  game. If you sustain a hit greater than
your number of HP, a dialogue  box  will  appear  saying that character has been
'Slain' but don't worry because they haven't!
-[ Infinite Gold ]--------------------------------------------------------------
Also known as lottery winner mode. You start  with pots of gold and whenever you
buy anything your gold doesn't go down. If only real life was like this!
-[ Infinite Potions ]-----------------------------------------------------------
Final Fantasy characters  enjoy  nothing  better  than  imbibing  mood enhancing
drugs. The party can continue well into the next millenium as no matter how much
you take your supplies will not be diminished!
This trainer gives you infinite HEAL, PURE and SOFT.
-[ Infinite Shelters ]----------------------------------------------------------
A good way to restore HP in FF is to  erect a Tent, Cabin or House. A little nap
in one of these humble abodes really refreshes your characters. With this option
on you have a whole IKEA warehouse full of easily constructed shelters.
-[ No Monsters ]----------------------------------------------------------------
If all those random monster  encounters  are  really spoiling your Sunday stroll
through the fields, then turn them  off!  You  now  get a 'countryside alliance'
style right to roam wherever you want free of those pesky working class ogres!
You still have to fight the real monsters such as Garland and the Fiends.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A quick warning to players of this game:  don't  forget to go to bed! I did when
playing this game for a solid sleepless 48 hours!
