Instructions - Basic Math Skills Series - Whole Numbers & Decimals

Welcome to the use of BASIC MATH SKILLS - OPERATIONS
There are FIVE files on the disk. You must have all
       FIVE in this SHAREWARE version.

README - This is the file you are reading now. It only tells you what
each file in the set does and is not needed to run the
programs. But it handy to know what to do.
BMS11A.PRG - This is the BOOT program for this disk. In the SHAREWARE
version you must load this PRG file first, read the
documentation if you want, print it out or print out
an order form. Or you can just use the arrows to go
to the MENU and select BASIC MATH SKILLS
and press ENTER and the main program will run.
BMS11B.PRG - This is the main program and if you have read or printed
out the documentation then you know the power it has to let
you configure it for your own uses.

MASTER - file of high scores for MASTER BLASTER

SCREEN - file of high scores for SCREEN GOBBLER

When you register your version (directions are in the BOOT program)
you will receive an updated version, printed documentation,
and the program will include all working functions.
              THANK YOU AND ENJOY!!!

               BASIC MATH SKILLS - OPERATIONS

This version of BASIC MATH SKILLS - OPERATIONS was written for the
teacher who wants to enter data once and use it for many functions.
There are a few assumptions about the use of the computer before
working this program.

1.) The student working the program would have access to a regular
text for extra assistance and that someone wwould be there to
set the program up and help work some of the problems out -
although a student could successfully work by themselves.

2.) This SHAREWARE version does everything except printouts of any
kind. The worksheet generator built into each program will not work
in theis SHAREWARE version but all other functions from the menus
do work. When you register with EMS and receive the full package
with printouts etc. and in the meantime keep using the program
until you receive the registered version and you can use the SAME
data you have been working with.

3.) It is assumed that the student has a working knowledge of the
Atari ST series of computers as far as the GEM interface with
dropdown menus and use of the mouse.

******************************************************************

If the above assumptions are correct, then there should be little
difficulty with working the program.

This program is part of an entire series that have been developed
by a teacher in math for the past twenty years.

          Other titles available are:

                 ALGEBRA I - Expressions
                 ALGEBRA I - Linear Equations
ALGEBRA I - Systems Of Equations
                 ALGEBRA I - Verbal Problems
                 BASIC MATH SKILLS - Operations
                 BASIC MATH SKILLS - Ratio/Proportion
                 BASIC MATH SKILLS - Percent
                 BASIC MATH SKILLS - Fractions

These titles will allow the student to practice the necessary
skills to be developed during their growth in mathematics and to
insure with this practice continued success as they go forward in
whatever math they take, and have fun as well.

These titles will be available in a HOME VERSION, a SCHOOL VERSION
and a NETWORKED VERSION. The difference being that the SCHOOL
VERSION will be sold to a teacher and they would be allowed to
make as many copies for their OWN use as they had computers
available. The NETWORKED VERSION is sold to a school and the school
will have a license through the purchase to place it on their
LAN and use it for the entire school. But more importantly there
is a separate program for the teacher to enter classes, class
lists and do managed instruction from any of the series titles
for individual students the results of which will automatically
be saved to disk. The teacher can then assess this information
and make changes as appropriate.

It is very important to understand that written into the programs
are controls that allow the user to make changes in the parts that
effect the numbers, their size, use of negative numbers etc. in
order to make the program as customized as it can be for each
user.

Also OPTIONS are included that make it possible for the user to
make use of the data generated from their use of this program,
including generating worksheets of randomly generated problems,
dumping to the printer problems that the user is not able to
master for future study, saving to disk at any point a file with
the results of the work up to that point, bringing in from disk
any past file and many other OPTIONS.

It is hoped that the purpose of this program:
to help students understand mathmematics and
have fun while they are learning and
will benefit those who spend the time working with it.

Thank you for using BASIC MATH SKILLS - OPERATIONS

                              Charles O. Gauthier
