2. Introduction
---------------

Extractor-FAN is a very small utility that copies new files
only within a certain directory. This is useful when you are
updating something you do not have immediate access to (for
example, my Web page is in the Department, not with my Falcon).
This saves tiring copying of all files, or alternatively
trying to remember which files are new.
BTW, Extractor-FAN stands for the unbelievably contrived
Extractor : File As New. So there you go.

DISCLAIMER :

Movement Software can not accept any responsibility for any
damage caused by the use of this program. Extractor-FAN does
NOT work with STs with a TOS below V1.4 (see below).
This program is Freeware. This program must not be altered
without my permission, but it is free to use and own. You might
send me an e-mail though...

3. In Use
---------

Simply use the file selector to select your source path and
destination path. On selecting Create, E-FAN will automatically
copy any NEW files with the Archive bit set. If "Always reset
folder" is selected, E-FAN will clear all archive bits of the
selected source folder after copying, thus rendering all files
"old". You may not want this feature if, for example, you are
copying the new files twice for backup purposes.
You can also reset a folder by clicking on "Reset folder"
and choosing a path with the file selector.
   Quit, unsurprisingly, quits.

Extractor-FAN can be passed two arguments, in the form :

efan source destination

where source is the full path of the source directory, and
destination is similar.

4. Development information
--------------------------

Due to a bug, E-FAN won't work with TOSes below V1.4, as these
versions do not implement the archive bit correctly. There are
several enhancements that could be made to improve E-FAN :

1. Handling of < TOS1.4 using date stamp
2. Checking of disk space
3. Use of Kobold (or MTOS copy) for copy operations
4. etc.

5. Credits
----------

E-FAN uses the FLDLIB GEM library for Lattice C, by Martin
Maisey, so thanks to him for releasing his library as freeware.
