INSTRUCTIONS
MARIO BROS. — Atari ST / STE port By TjLaZer 2026 A port of Nintendo’s 1983 arcade Mario Bros. to the Atari ST and STE. It’s converted from the original arcade program, so the gameplay, enemies, phases, bonus rounds and attract mode match the arcade. Requirements Any Atari ST, STE or Mega STE with 512K or more (runs on a 520ST) Colour monitor or TV (low resolution) The STE uses its 4096-colour palette and smooth scrolling; the plain ST uses the 512-colour palette Files MARIO.ST: bootable floppy image, starts automatically from the AUTO folder MARIO.PRG: run from desktop or hard disk Controls Fire or F1: start one-player game F2 or 2: start two-player game Cursor left/right: move Cursor up or Ctrl: jump Joystick port 1: player 1 Joystick port 0: player 2 STE pad ports A and B: player 1 and player 2 (Jaguar pads or joysticks) F3: screen mode (fitted full screen, or full-height scrolling that follows the player) F5: switch 50/60 Hz P: pause Esc: back to the title screen F10: quit Features The game runs at arcade speed (60 frames per second) on both ST and STE The full 224-line arcade screen fits into 200 lines without cutting text, scores or platforms Music and sound effects are converted from the arcade sound chip, including the bass lines, footsteps and skids The colours are brightened to match the arcade monitor Notes Developed and tested in Hatari; real-hardware reports welcome The STE pad ports haven’t been tested with a controller plugged in yet
