ADDITIONAL COMMENTS

Huge thanks to author Denis M. Bennett for all the material, including scans of the #00001 registration card and the first duplicated game disk.
Download includes two disk images - a clean one without the high score file, and another with the author’s high score pre-loaded for ST gamers to challenge.

Different game variations

Back in the day, it was common for hobbyists to create various software programs using famous TV or movie characters and audio for their productions. The creation process for Makin' Whoopee! was no different, and the actual commercial release is the fifth version in the series.
01. Rock n' Roll Yahtzee (Plays like the original Yahtzee dice game & uses sound effects, no actual pictures)
02. Jungle Yahtzee (Plays like the original Yahtzee dice game & uses sound effects, no actual pictures)
03. Barnyard Yahtzee (Plays like the original Yahtzee dice game & uses sound effects, no actual pictures)
04. Mega ST (Plays like the original Yahtzee dice game with simple animation pictures)
05. Makin' Whoopee (Style of play changed to avoid copyright issues)
06. Superman Whoopee (uses actual pictures, sound effects and voices from the Adventures of Superman TV series)
07. Star Trek Whoopee (uses actual pictures, sound effects and voices from the Star Trek TV series)
08. Cartoon Whoopee (uses actual pictures, sound effects and voices from different Warner Cartoons.
Due to copyright reasons, these versions can't be made available for download.

Graphics

The Witch character in the game is the author’s niece, and the Green Meanie is his older brother. Other characters in the game include the author wearing a mask and one with a distorted face.

Development

Games in the series were developed using a 2 megabyte ST powered by STOS The Game Creator, the STOS Compiler, and the STOS Maestro sampler cartridge. The latter was connected to an audio device or a microphone to capture digitized sounds for the game. Many pictures and animations were also captured using a video digitizer.
