According to the Iron Lord FAQ there's a bug that prevents the game working till the end if you're not careful.

The English version is, of course, the most popular, but something went wrong during production. IMHO, you cannot finish English version of the game, but French version seems to be completed and can be finished. Maybe the workaround is to make a savegame in English version and use it in the mazes, the last level, but in French version. Anyway, I was unable to finish the English version, but I saw the ending in the French version, so... Be careful.

Engaging and beautiful looking game until the last segment, when you have to navigate a maze of doldrums 1/4 the size of your screen and at a snail's pace. I never did finish this part out of sheer frustration (and boredom).
