INSTRUCTIONS
This program has been released into the public domain by Martin Brownlow. You are free to distribute this program so long as all the files listed below are kept with it, and no charge is made other than a small fee to cover costs (max 3 UK pounds). GRAV.PRG GRAV.DOC LEVELS.DAT WARNING: Do not run this program on a machine running faster than 8Mhz. The screen update routine used was written for speed, and any machine going too fast would make the screen update faster than 50Hz and therefore render the game unplayable. GRAV By Martin Brownlow Introduction In a strange and bizarre set of out of date dimensions, there existed a be- ing which was totally evil. It had already conquered all of the galaxies and star systems in it's own dimension, and also in two others, and it was hungry for more. Then it found it's way into our dimension. It had taken over two of our bases before we even knew it was there, corr- upting the men that lived there so they would serve it. Now it is trying for the Earth. You have been chosen to attack it's two bases, and then hopefully destroy it forever. Your ship is the best that Earth's scientist's could produce and can teleport into the very heart of a base. GOOD LUCK. The Game Grav is a 'rotate and thrust' game, similar in concept to Thrust and Oids. To complete a level, simply follow the instructions in the mission briefing. To complete most levels, you simply need to destroy all enemy installations. There are eleven levels in all, three are training levels, and the two planets are four levels each. You can attempt the planets in any order, but you must complete both planets to win. The Options When you have chosen which set of levels to play, you are presented with a menu with four entries, the first of which is INTELLIGENCE. Choosing this will take you to a description of some of the most common installations. MISSION BRIEFING does exactly what it suggests, as does COMMENCE MISSION. The final option is REVIEW CRAFT. This allows you to alter the craft's charac- teristics to suit your taste, and also add shields and so on. The things you can alter are:- IMPACT SHIELDS (1 resource point) protects your ship from 1 bullet hit. SHOT POWER (5 resource points) upgrades your bullet strength. VANE STRENGTH (2 resource points) allows faster landings. ENGINE THRUST (0 resource points) allows you to alter the strength of your ship's thrusters. TURN RATE (0 resource points) alters the speed of rotation of your ship. Controls LEFT rotate anticlockwise RIGHT rotate clockwise UP thrust DOWN activate teleport beacon FIRE fire bullet (continuous) SPACEBAR fires a bomb.
