INSTRUCTIONS
UBIS ===== A port of the C64 game Cubis by Richard Loewenstein (as "Kubis" in Happy Computer 1/1989) to the Atari ST, in 68000 assembler. Pieces fall into a well; turn and move them so that they fill complete rows, which then vanish. Needs an Atari ST or STE with a colour monitor (low resolution) and 512 KB. Start CUBIS.TOS from floppy or hard disk. The high scores are saved in CUBIS.HI next to the program. Controls -------- Joystick or keyboard Left/Right move the piece Down drop it Fire, Space turn counter-clockwise Cursor up turn counter-clockwise X turn clockwise P or Esc pause on/off Control+Q back to the desktop Undo back to the desktop Jaguar pad (STE ports) D-pad move, drop C, A, 4 turn counter-clockwise B, 6 turn clockwise Pause pause on/off * and # back to the desktop Title page Left/Right choose the difficulty Fire start the game New high score Left/Right choose a letter Fire next initial Additions to the original ------------------------- - A box at the bottom right shows the next piece. - Pieces can also turn clockwise. - Attract mode: after 10 seconds without input on the title page the game plays itself; any key or button ends it. - Jaguar pads in the STE ports. - High scores are kept in CUBIS.HI. Differences to the original --------------------------- - The difficulty starts at CHILDISH (level 0), as the magazine says. - Pause is P or Esc instead of RUN/STOP and the Commodore key; the sound stops while paused. - The music is played by the YM chip: the SID's thin pulse sound becomes a plain square wave. Notes ----- Ported using Claude AI tools, design by Kimchipenguin (Mia)
