                                    CAPITAL

         Introduction

Capital is a game for one or more players. Starting
with œ80 you must invest in any of six companies on each of
10 trading days. Share prices all start at œ10 but may go up
or down each day. The winner is the player who has amassed
most money by the end of the final day.

         Decisions

The decision screen for each player shows six icons,
representing the various companies, with figures relating to
the current price of that company's shares, the amount of
shares in that company held by the current player, and
finally the availability of shares in that company: either
remaining shares, or the number of shares that can be
afforded by the player at the current price. N.B a player may
hold up to five shares in a company OR any multiple of five.

On the decision screen, to change your holding in a
company, point to the appropriate company icon or statistics
box, then press the left mouse button to decrease the number
of shares held in that company, or the right button to
increase your holding. You will note that your cash balance
is immediately updated, and so the availability of other
         shares may increase.

Finally on the decision screen, you will note that a
tip is given e.g. cars -3 or electricity +2. Note that
stockmarket tips are notoriously unreliable! A company's
shares can never go below œ1 or above œ20.

         Results

When all players have entered their decisions in the
random order selected by the computer, the day's stock market
moves are shown by means of a chart on which the icons
representing each company rattle up, down, or stay at the
same level. The resulting effects on each player's finances are then shown.

Note that where the market in general is at a very high
level, a bear market may develop, and likewise a bull market
may develop where the market has been depressed.
