Come for the digitized voice samples, stay for the crushing difficulty. I was happy to see this game included on the Atari 400 Mini, everyone should get to play it on a rainy afternoon. Good luck lasting more than a couple minutes before being crushed by all those robots.

The 2600 port of this game must be for practicing because this port of Berzerk is unforgiving. This is also the first game in my 5200 collection that talked and surprised me. I never knew the 5200 could do voice synthesis so I missed this title when the 5200 was in production. It's about as close to the arcade as one can get without buying the arcade. Just be on your toes when you play. Those robots don't give any breaks.

This is a pretty faithful translation of the arcade game. The only blemish on it is that the action pauses whenever the voice synthesis kicks in. Other than that, this is a perfect home version of the arcade game.
