charliechaplin -> Not necessarily :-) It's just that numbers "1" and "2" look very much alike (so quite a lot of focus goes into just recognizing the two apart from each other) and also, the trigger action is as -if delayed, sometimes. But once you know WHAT to do in each subgame, it's easy to beat each. Check the last two "TAPE" PNG images here, they tell exactly what to do.

Alas I am too stupid to ever finish the subgames (riddles) of Joe Blade and Joe Blade 2 in time. I wish these subgames could be removed from both Joe Blade's. They are the only reasons why I do not wanna play these games.

As I liked and quite admired the gameplay of the first game, I gave this one a try.. And to my surprise, though it was slower, it didn't feel sluggish. The mechanics were a bit clunky, but definitely OK for the time, and the map was smaller, making the game easier to navigate, at least a bit. I also liked the multiple sub-game variations, adding some extra flair to the gameplay. All in all, this sequel wasn't a disappointment, but rather an excellent and very welcome follow-up to the original.

Hi - I'm one the of Authors on this game. Yep - still have fold memories of my beloved Atari. For a bit of trivia - Joe Blade II represented only my second commercial game at the time. It was written just after I had completed work creating my new software sprite system. It was a port from the Amstrad version (although we had absolutely no help).

A great game - well beyond its years
