The artifact coloring is backwards here, where Ultima IV always drew using Blue H2O and "Brown" Terrain, the blue is applied to creating Hearts and Diamonds, and requires the emulator be modified into "reverse" coloring to see Orange suits (the green background helps make brown look orange). This author (S.Silverman 1981 April 4) must've grew up on Lord British's TV turned 180 degrees upsidedown in its console. Odd numbered pixels become even, even become odd. Even I could build such a TV by modifying an existing one. What would make my new design a "right one"?

This BASIC card game properly uses hi resolution artifacting to make "orange" hearts and diamonds, no trickery whatsoever. See how the unartifacted screenshot is absolute monochrome. (If this game page screenshot isn't that, Atarimania always has a 2nd screenshot on the games list).
