The loader music is a partial section of the Symphonie Fantastique - Dream Of A Witches Sabbath. Not sure which conductor or which orchestra, but this piece is very well suited to set your mood before attempting to play this game. It is amazingly frustrating at first, but well crafted. The graphics may seem very basic, but they give you a good sense of what is going on. My brother and I tried to escape multiple times, often into the wee hours of the morning. Glad to see people finally figured out how to use the crystals. Very challenging. There is a great piece on this game in the Atari Compendium with video samples and mapping info. I hate waiting for tapes to load, but this one is worth it. The music playing while the game is loading is frightening, especially in a darkened room...

Does anyone remember what classical piece was playing on the tape loader. I always loved that about this game. It was a very ominous sounding piece. My brother and I played this game for hours trying to figure out what to do with the crystals and it was so frustating because it was so excrutiatingly slow!!! Never did finish, would always end up in the dark room and give up. :/ But we loved it. I think it is one of the first games I ever played on an atari 400.

I can't wait to see this game again. I spent many hours in 1980 bending the atari joytick traversing the black room!

I thought that I would not see this game again! Whoever converted it has done well. Even though it was in BASIC it had a tricky loader program and you could not get to see the program listing unless a) You was the programmer or B) like me had an Atari with one faulty bit, so that the game trip out and presented the listing!!!! I had an affection for this game, the tape loaded with some music playing on one track while thee game was on the other track, very clever. ==mk==
