Initially available only to Atari Club members.
The game was sold with a Swordquest - WaterWorld comic book.
Although the WaterWorld contest was canceled, the ten persons who made it to the finals assumably received $2500 each. Steven Bell and Michael S. Rideout received $15.000 each and an Atari 7800 with their choice of games to go with it.
