There is a special screen display if you manage to dock 6 times with the satellite with at least 7,500 units of fuel remaining. The message on-screen reads: WELCOME HOME
Two versions exist. Some NTSC carts were released that use the FE bank-switching method, instead of F8. The PAL version also uses FE.

I once landed the shuttle with commander status when I was 12 years old, only after many attemps but I didnt have my Polaroid by my side that moment. It introduced me to the new Columbia Space Shuttle and its stuffs. It's very great simulator game and I still have the original cartridge, panel, and flight manual. Recently watched Steve's video and I became a programmer now after inspired by Atari:)

Brilliant game! Can you believe they fir the whole thing into 4K? Back in 1983, when I thought the shuttle was way cool, this game allowed me to enjoy a little wish fulfillment. Sure, the game was very complicated, but that was part of the fun. That's what helped make it so immersive. Sadly, the game doesn't run on a 7800, so far as I can tell, because the switches are different. I guess I'll never beat my score of "Mission Specialist".
