Thank you for taking the time to acquire this shareware copy
of Marcel Word Processor v2.3, and for reading this READ.ME
file. (If you wish, you may print this file; it fills up two
pages.)
Marcel Word Processor is packed with features that users
love. Marcel WP is super-easy to learn and to use for virtually
all of your writing needs.
NEW USERS: If you received a complete shareware bundle (as
should be the case), then no special installation is needed,
with the exception of the spell-check file, which is now bundled
separately. Rename either the MAR_SYSA.DIC file (American
spelling list) or the MAR_SYSB.DIC file (British) to
MAR_SYS.DIC; the spell-check feature is not recommended on
diskette-only systems. You now have the full version--there are
no keys or features to "turn on."
UPDATE USERS: The FILELIST file shows which files have
changed since v2.2. You can keep all your old CFG, PFN, etc.
files. We recommend keeping the entire (uncustomized) v2.3
release together in a separate directory--to copy for your
fellow Atari users. For full update info, read the NEW_IN_2.3
file.
Please feel free to make copies of Marcel WP v2.3 for your
friends, or to upload it to your favorite BBS, or to include it
on your club disk. We ask only that you copy the entire set of
original files (listed in the FILELIST file), not files that you
have customized.
To experience Marcel WP v2.3 right away, start up
MARCEL.PRG. Then, using "Open existing" (in the File menu) to
load the included SAMPLE file, which will step you through many
of Marcel's features.
If you like Marcel WP v2.3 and want to use it regularly
(like more than three times), you're obligated to register with
Marcel Software as a shareware user. The registration fee is
only $10 (somewhat more for overseas users). When we receive
your payment, we'll send you Marcel User Documentation and a
registration certificate with your name on it. The
documentation explains all of the features and contains handy
hints for getting the most out of your new word processor. Also
included is a free function-key guide.
Registered users get free technical support--others get
none.
Only one user in each home or office needs to be registered.
(The fee is waived for schools, but registration is still
required and it only covers use of Marcel WP v2.3 on campus.)
If you already registered for v2.2, there is no need to
re-register and pay another fee, unless you want a new
certificate, documentation, and function-key guide.
Marcel WP v2.3 is copyrighted software; the full shareware
agreement is printed in the manual.
The registration payment for Marcel shareware v2.3 may be

IMPORTANT NOTE: Please do not include technical questions
in your registration letter. The Marcel User Documentation will
probably answer your questions. Our Tech Support department,
now separate from our Registration department, handles all
questions and comments--if they're part of your registration
letter, then the shipment of your documentation and certificate
will be delayed.
ALSO PLEASE NOTE: Marcel Software does not provide its
shareware on diskettes. Please do not send blank diskettes.
Copies of Marcel WP are available at little or no cost from
various shareware sources: GEnie, Delphi, HENSA, magazine disks,
SuzyBee, your local Atari BBS, user groups, fellow users, etc.
Shareware providers, such as Marcel, are a valuable source of
quality software at a low cost. Please support them by
