INSTRUCTIONS
As the various text files on this disk will tell you, D.A. Brumleve has worked with children from several grades to use the Talespin Adventure Kit to create some adventure games. The file needed to run these disks, TELLTALE.TOS, is included on this disk. Two of the three adventures, SDI and MOUNTAIN, are also on the disk. The tird adventure, MANSION, could not fit, so I included it in an ARC format. It will have to be unARC'd before you can use it. Note that it will be about 350K unARC'd. I think you will be be impressed with the excellent job done by both the kids and Mrs. Brumleve. Have fun adventuring! Below are some of the file descriptions taken from GEnie. KID_TALE.TXT Teachers, boy/girl scout leaders, recreation directors, and parents: We've been using Talespin (the adventure creation program from MichTron) with groups of grade school students to create wonderfully imaginative programs. It's easy to do, fun for the kids, educational, and -- guess what? -- it makes the kids _think_! This ASCII file describes some of what's involved. Try it with your group.! MOUNTAIN.TAL COLOR ONLY! Requires TELLTALE.TOS to use. This adventure game was designed by grade school students, illustrated using Kidpainter (from D.A. Brumleve), and programmed with Talespin (from MichTron/ /MicroDeal). The game takes you inside a magic mountain where you'll have the opportunity to fend off a vicious dragon, pacify a giant spider, etc. in your effort to make your way through. Teachers and Parents, especially, take note of this fine product _by_ kids. TELLTALE.TOS This is the pd run-time program to run .TAL files generates with Talespin, the adventure creator from Michtron. (Please note that this program won't do anything on its own. You HAVE to have a .TAL file to get any use from it.) SDI.TAL COLOR ONLY! Requires TELLTALE.TOS to be used. This adventure was created by students at Leal Elementary School in Urbana IL. Stranded on a Desert Island offers you any of ten characters with different skills and weaknesses. Choose a character, then use his special qualities to help him get through a series of unpleasant tropical experiences and reach the rescue ship. Graphics designed with Kidpainter (from D.A. Brumleve), programmed with Talespin (from MichTron/MicroDeal).
TRIVIA (1)
Origins
MOUNTAIN.TAL was designed by 8 3rd-5th graders at Creative Discovery School in Champaign, IL,
both facilitated by teacher M.L. Marks. In these programs, each child was responsible for one or more "rooms" in a group-planned scenario.
