   Counter Atak
                             ------------

                            By Angus Muir.
                            --------------

                              1993/1994.
                              ----------

Counter Atak is a simple game which is based around the games
Columns and tetris.

Yes I know these games have been copied to hell and back, so why do we
need yet another one???

Well... We don't... Do we!

Or do we...

Counter atak is a little different, instead of getting coloured tiles
lined up next to each other, you have to make sure (depending which
level is choosen) the tiles, or in this case liquid counters, are not
next to each other. This adds that extra bit of thought to the game.

When you start to play Atak, you may think it is easy, well... it is.
Or that is, it is when you are low down in the grid, however, when you
start to reach the top of the grid things start to get that bit
harder. Things are no longer easy...

                     A FEW THINGS TO REMEMBER!!!
                     ---------------------------

1. Ensure you remember which level is which. (good tip eh!!!)

2. There are 20 counters of each colour.

2a. Always keep a mental note of how many counters are
in the grid at all times, this will help you reach
the top of the grid and hopefully complete the game.

3. Time is very important. The more time left the
         higher the final score.

4. Don't give up... It is possible, honest!!!

This game was pretty easy to program, but there were a few problems
involved. I actually started programming this game sometime around
June 1992. After getting to the 13th version, which had no sound
included, I compiled the program into M/Code, it worked!!! But not for
long, it had a very nasty habit of just hanging up half way through
playing it. Two months later the bug still wasn't found, I was very
angry and finally told the program, computer, mouse, joystick,
monitor, printer and everything else to bloody well sod off!!!

December 1993, the program was started again, well continued, two days
later the bug was found and destroyed.

Janruary 1994, 2nd, sound and music in program, working well.

Janruary 1994, 3rd, 50/60 hertz switcher put in.
Music on title screen distorting when in
                    60 hertz mode.
60 hertz mode taken out. Sorry.
Please run a 60 hertz switcher program before
loading the game if you don't mind the title
music distorting, the game looks nicer!!!
