                          MASTER-MIND
                     created by Robert Nimstrom

Be sure that programs here specified are in the folder M_MIND.

 The programs are: M_MIND.PRG
                   M_DATA.PRG
                   M_DATA (folder containing RESULTAT.DAT)
                   M_MIND.BAS (sourcefile in Hisoft Basic)
                   M_DATA.BAS (sourcefile in HiSoft Basic)

All is Public Domain, that's nice isn't it. Lets make programs !!!

Make sure that the folder M_MIND is in the root-directory. It doesn't
matter if you copy it to harddisk as long as it's in the root of
 your choosen drive.
If you have a program to fix the time and date, run this first (or put
it in an AUTO-folder) as M_MIND.PRG saves the result of your skill and
also saves when the game was played. Just to show all your friends that
you stayed up all night trying to beat them or the computer.

 Little about the programs.

 M_MIND.PRG:

This program only works in high resolution, yet. I'm working on
 the other resolutions.

This game is played by guessing on a hidden code that is created by
the computer. Doubleclick on M_MIND.PRG to start. The first thing
the program does is to read the scoretable (RESULTAT.DAT) then you will
end up in the menu. To choose how many numbers to guess upon, just
 doubleclick on the appropriate number.

The next screen is the Mastermind guess-screen. Beware of your
key-pressing as it acts immediately. Lets say that you choose three
hidden numbers. At the top you will see three boxes one for each digit.
The digits can be from zero to nine. Then it's time to start guessing.
For example you type in three zeros. Two numbers will occur to the right
of your entered digits. The leftmost of those two digits tells you how
many correct digits in the correct place you have.
The rightmost digit tells you how many right digits, but in the wrong
place. Simpel isn't it. You have to be right within 36 guesses.

By typing different combinations you will (hopefully) find the hidden
code. When this happens a box occur, telling you to doubleclick.
This is only done just to give you a chance to study your guesses,
and perhaps improve for the next turn. If your score (i.e. if you
didn't use all 36 guesses) is better then what's written in the score-
table, you will be asked to enter your initials. If not the scoretable
will show you what score to beat. Only the ten best minds will be
presented. Again beware of your key-press as it acts immediately.

So far so good. When doubleclicking on EXIT in the scoretable, an
alertbox pops up, asking you if you want to save the scoretable.
You now have two choices. If you answer YES, the scoretable will be
saved immediately. The other option is to answer NO. Your score is
not forgotten. You can play how many times you want without loosing
your result (i.e if it's better then scoretable). You can even change
number of hidden without loosing the previous score. Just be sure that
before exiting scoretable for the last time, press RETURN or double-
click on YES. Pressing YES or NO allways gets you back to menu-screen.
 Have fun !!!

 M_DATA.PRG:

M_DATA.PRG creates RESULTAT.DAT. This means, when you cannot improve
your score anymore, simply run this program and start all over, all
 previous results are overwritten.

These programs are written and compiled in HiSoft Basic and it's yours
to give away to anyone that you would like to be braindamaged.
If you enjoy playing MASTERMIND, think of me and send me a contribution
of 10$ or what ever you feel like. Enjoy yourself !!!
