             Robin Ball

         Finished on 9/8/91

I will start this 'manual by
saying that this game is released as

should send a cheque for œ5 and a
large stamped addressed envelope to
to the address below.
    33/35 Whistley Road,
     Potterne,
      Devizes,
       Wiltshire
        SN10 5QY

When you have sent in your

a user and will receive the following:

An exclusive black and white poster.

 A map of the starship.

Any help that you need with the game.
( not just when you register but as
often as you like, providing you send
a stamped addressed envelope each
time.)

A voucher entitling you to my next
game free when you send a blank
formatted disk.( Wait 'til you see it
available through PD first though,
'cos I haven't finished it yet.) You
will still have to register for the
new game but it won't cost more than
the price of a disk for the actual
program.

If you are a 3D CONSTRUCTION KIT
user, you might want some of my
routines. You can have any you want
just by asking. (And sending an SAE.)

    If you don't like INFILTRATION,
simply pass it on to someone else who
might. You can copy and distribute
the game freely so long as you
include this text file as well.

Remember, you won't get any help from
me unless you are a registered user.

    Now back to the game.

            THE STORY
            ---------

This isn't one of those tired old
storylines that pit a single lone
warrior against a whole universe of
malevolent aliens for the goodness
of all mankind. Oh no none of that
rubbish for you, you're in this purely
for the money.
This is some time into the future
and the human race has spread
throughout the stars, colonising many
newly discovered planets. Trade
routes have been set up between these
colonies and large companies make
their fortunes. It is for one of
these companies that you are currently
working.
What has happened is that space
freighters have begun to disappear in
an area of space to be known as the
Bermudan Pyrimad. Pretty soon no ship
managed to traverse the area without
vanishing. The big companies began to
lose millions and put out an offer
of a huge reward to any person who
could find out what was happening to
all their cargo ships. You as a hired
gun; mercenary and all round free-
booter couldn't pass up this
opportunity so off you fly to put an
end to whatever it is. After flying
around for a while with no sign of
anything, you round a planet to come
face to face with an enormous alien
space craft with massive weapons.
Thinking this is the end, you close
your eyes and wait for the killing
blast. When it doesn't come, you run
checks over the ship with your
computer. It appears that the ship
is temporarily dormant as its pilot
is in suspended animation. You
realize that this presents an ideal
oppertunity to infiltrate the ship
and plant a series of mines to
destroy it. Quickly donning your
space suit, you rush to the teleporter
of your ship. This is where the game
starts.

            GAMEPLAY
            --------

Your basic aim in INFILTRATION is
to lay mines on important parts of the
alien ship, this would be impossible
if you didn't have the help of your
on-suit computer. This shows you where
to place mines by projecting an image
of a large yellow cross apparently on
to the floor via a high tech HUD.
Basically it appears as if there is a
cross on the floor. All you have to
do is to walk over the cross and you
will automatically lay a mine. Sounds
simple huh? Well the problem is that
the places where you need to lay
mines are never very easy to get to.
There are a total of twenty mines
which need to be laid, after which
you must leave the ship. This is
achieved by leaping down one of the
many holes in the floor.
Some of the more common problems
you will face are lifts and short
range teleporters. Lifts always need
to be operated by shooting a switch,
this is often in the form of a
geometrical shape and is quite often
hidden in the design of the room.
Teleports come in two forms, those
which are operated by the use of a
switch like lifts, and automatic
ones which you simply have to step
on. The ship is equiped with anti-
intruder laser guns of varying
design. some can be switch off in
several different ways and others
must simply be avoided.
    Your suit only has limited
energy and this can be reduced by
being shot or falling too far.
Your energy can be partly re-
plenished by collecting batteries
which can be found around the
ship. Some parts of the ship
are inaccessible until you find
certain objects.

           CONTROLS
           --------

I have tried to make the controls
as simple as possible. Everything you
need is accessible by the mouse. I
have included only a minimum number of
displays so as not to confuse the
screen. To the top right is your score,
and next to it (in the middle) is the
number of mines already laid. When this
says 20 it's time to leave the ship.
At the very bottom left is your energy,
you initially have 100 units. Above
that is an information window which
tells you when you've placed a mine or
picked up an object etc. The movement
icons are set out as follows:
©-------------ª
|©-ª©-ª©-ª ©-ª|
|| || || | | ||
|©-ª©-ª©-ª |-||
|| || || | | ||
| ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿ ÿÿÿ|
ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿ
  (more or less)

To the top left is the turn left
icon, left button turns you slowly
and right quickly. Next to it is walk
forwards, left button slowly and right
quickly. Next to that is turn right,
the same as left but the other way. To
the right is look upwards (left) or
stand up (right). Below that is look
straight ahead. At the bottom left is
walk left, left slowly and right
quickly. Beside that is walk back (left)
or turn around (right). Next is walk
right, same as walk left (but going
right). Lastly is look down (left)
or crouch (right).
At the top left of the screen are
the game save and game load icons.
Save your game under any name (up to
eight characters) with no extender.
    I think that's about all, if I've
forgotten anything important, please
let me know. I hope you enjoy playing
my first game (so long as you send
your money) and look forward to my
next game. Which is set on Earth of
the very near future and is much more
object orientated.
