INSTRUCTIONS:

There is no pointless, boring background story to this game. The
aim is just healthy, meaningless destruction, though in this game
it's not achieved by waggling the joystick in all directions and
frantically pressing the firebutton. No, this is more like an
aggressive version of Reagan's Star Wars. Carefully place your
reflecting mirrors so that your laser-beam passes through all
power-up crystals on the screen and then hits an appropriate
target. The beam is allowed to intersect itself any number of
times, but if it hits anything else than the crystals (or the
target when all crystals are taken) it is bye bye energy and you
have failed to complete the level.

Acceptable targets are: the Earth, the Sun, the Devil, a nuclear
warhead and the center of a space-station

The mirrors are controlled with the joystick, rotated with the
firebutton and placed with SPACE. The mirrors can be guided
through or placed over the crystals without harm, but are stopped
or destroyed (depending on the menu-selection) when colliding
with any other object. If you feel satisfied with your set-up
without having to use all mirrors, ESC proves a handy way of
disposing the rest and thereby leaving room for the laser to
move. The laser is controlled and fired using the joystick.
Up/down on the stick moves the laser left or right by one step
only, giving perfect control of the firing.

For further information about how to play the game please wait
for the demo after the title- and credit-screens.

When a level is completed, the name of the following will be
displayed on top of the screen while loading. Write this up
because this will enable you to jump to this level whenever
you want to. There is 60 levels for you to complete, getting more
and more difficult as you progress. If you find the first levels
far too easy and boring you can commence the game at level 20
where the medium-difficulty rated levels begin.

If you miss the target, or fail to collect all crystals you are
given the option to retry with the same mirror setting so you
don't have to put them all out again if you fire the laser badly.
Of course, if you screwed it up completely you can also reset the
mirrors and reposition them.

This game is shareware. It may be copied freely by anyone and to
anyone, but if you play it, enjoy it and decide to keep it you
are obliged to send me some money (a sum of own choice but don't
be too stingy.) If enough people show enough (financial) interest
there will also be a "Galactic Playground Level Designer". Anyone
who has sent registration money will then automatically receive a
notice or a copy (depending on "how much") of that program and
upgradings on this game.

Version 1.0

This is the first version of the game "Galactic Playground". I
hope it will be well accepted. If you like original and thought-
stimulating games this one should appeal to you.

I do not believe in releasing first-versions full of bugs, so
though there may be some minor "cosmetic" faults everything
should be working perfectly. In this version however there is no
sound to speak of, the irritating noise when the laser is fired is
just an experimental by-product which I forgot to remove. Turn
the sound off on the TV / monitor and instead put on your
favorite record or something. I can't give you everything. Not
at this moment anyway...

This version does not work on the STE. Sorry all you STE owners,
change computer or wait for a working STE-version of the game.
(Probably it won't come, but everything is possible...)

This game was created using STOS, STOS compiler and Neochrome
master.

Have fun!
                                                  Worlord-92
