CYCLOTRON
=========

Cyclotron is a one-player version of light cycles, played as a tournament over
20 rounds against a variety of computer opponents.

The game is joystick controlled, the only time you need to use the keyboard is
to enter your name at the beginning of each game. Use the fire button to move
between game screens.

The computer opponents are equipped with either slow or fast bikes, yours is
always dual-speed. Normally you move at the slower speed; hold down the fire
button to move faster.

Each opponent is worth a bounty based on his or her abilities. There is also a
bonus for completing a round in a short time - make the most of these on the
earlier rounds, the chance of scoring a time bonus against multiple opponents
is very slim.

The game ends when you complete round 20, in which case a 5000 point
championship bonus is awarded, or when you hit a wall, when you will earn a
survival bonus based on the number of rounds completed.

I wrote this game because of a couple of things which are wrong with almost
all versions of light cycles. Unlike many PD versions of the game, Cyclotron
actually shows the bikes (they're not brilliant but they are there)! This
version also will not let you turn back on yourself, if you move the joystick
opposite to the direction you are moving you will just keep going straight.

A good joystick is essential for this game, preferably a microswitched one
which doesn't have to move too far before it registers.
