Hey, Marco Nadal, it's not true there is no music! Maybe there is no in-game music but it is after finishing level or on game over screen. And this music is pretty cool. Besides, this game is great, like Omidor, Kid grid, Jeepers Creepers etc. I really love this kind of games and I think Time Runner is one of the best for Atari 8-bit!

This game is just like amidar, except it's damn hard! The same guy coded Flak. Run pickle, run!

Marco Nadal, I agree with much of what you've said but this is still a damn good clone. I am of the school of thought that I care more about how a game plays then how it looks. And this particular program has awesome control, a fast pace, and is definitely worth playing if you are an Amidar fan.

My whole family played Qix on the Commodore 64; As an adult, I was able to try the original arcade version. It remains an interesting game to this day because -- unlike PacMan -- it has no patterns.

Time Runner is nothing like Qix; It is, in fact, an Amidar knockoff -- and not a very good one:

- Sound consists of a high-pitched tone when you pick up the dots, another tone when you complete a box, a descending note when an enemy falls off the board, and hissing static when you get killed -- that's it. No music.

- Instead of Amidar's Gorilla, pigs and cleaver-toting tribals, you get the green player blob and the red enemy blob. No animation.

+ It controls well enough.

+ It's better than the 2600 version of Amidar, but that's not saying much.

Wether you liked Amidar or Qix or both, stay away from this -- take away the music, good sound effects and fun characters from Amidar, and you have Time Runner.

Ah yes. The game I referred to in my youth as "The Pickle Game." Time runner is a bit like Qix, where you are trying to manoeuver your little pickle around the playing are and fill in some squares. The graphics on this are pretty good, and the gameplay is excellent. If you are a fan of Qix-type games, this is a really fun one for you to try.
