Great write-up about how this version of SHANGAI came to be. We cant truly thank Peter Sabath for it!! https://forums.atariage.com/topic/352114-is-there-a-bug-in-shanghai-activision/?do=findComment&comment=5268270

Afaik, Peter Sabath ported this game from the C64 to the Atari. Since he was an Abbuc member, Abbuc then asked Activision if they would distribute it. They had high doubts that it would sell well on the A8, but luckily they still made it officially available.

interesting that there are no comments on this title at all. I think it's one of the late releases (maybe even last?) from Activision as a big publisher. The game got a lot of positive reception on other platforms but all major game magazines ignored the XL/XE version?

A lot of work went into programming this quality-title. Impressive is the awesome ST GEM like UI (at least for the XL/XE) that works perfectly for such a game and it even supports a Atari ST-compatible mouse.

This game is must play on this platform - no question.
