Controls aren't fluid enough to my liking. This game is impossible in NTSC mode, even though Tigervision claims to be USA (they have only 3 titles they all look european), pal mode slows things down enough to be reasonable. Then it's still too hard and frustrating. I cheated so I'd complete Matterhorn in one session, I use emulator to save progress on game with no save feature, I used same trick to complete all 20 levels of "Threshold" in no time.
Matterhorn comes at you with 5 levels like the mountain climber game seen on "The Price Is Right". Sounds like really bad music on title screen but it's supposed to be Yodeling. 2nd wave tries drawing in a style called "axonometric" which is what Zaxxon is named for. Matterhorn, in the Swiss Alps, recently recognized the 150th anniversary of being first conquered. Only half as high as Everest but very steep and inaccessible. Ought to be a girl to rescue on last level, but instead the grand prize looks like a meter high Strawberry. |
